Nivedhitha Ajithkumar
Nivedhitha Ajithkumar, (PhD), is a doctoral researcher at the University of Eastern Finland, Finland. She earned her MSc from a collaborative program between the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), ISRO in Dehradun, India, and ITC, University of Twente in the Netherlands. Nivedhitha also possesses a strong engineering background, holding a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication.
Her research focuses on Earth observation (EO), where she utilises satellite data and geospatial tools to assess the health of boreal forests. Nivedhitha is particularly dedicated to advancing climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts through remote sensing.
In addition to her academic pursuits, she is the co-founder of Thazhal Geospatial Analytics, a climate-tech startup in India aimed at promoting the sustainable development of geospatial technologies. Using the cutting-edge technology, they are providing AI-based intelligence system to monitor the environment and assess risk for proactive decision-making.
