Nikelene Mclean

Dr. Nikelene Mclean is a coastal geospatial ecologist whose efforts are geared towards providing access to the ocean and coastal observational data, tools and services needed to inform climate adaptation and mitigation among Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

As a native of the multi-island Caribbean state of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Mclean understands the importance of improving the adaptive capacity of vulnerable island states on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Her work at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Satellite Oceanography and Climatology Division, in support of the GEO Blue Planet initiative, paved the way for the development of projects specifically aimed at bridging gaps in geospatial data and information needed to inform the sustainable management of marine and coastal resources among SIDS in the Caribbean Sea, Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans.
